About Redpoint Adventure
Prior to the 1970s in the German Frankenjura area of Switzerland, the hardest climbs were only climbed with the help of metal pegs and ring bolts. Kurt Albert believed in a purer style of climbing; a style of climbing without aid, where the climber’s wits, skills and strength are all that are used to overcome a problem. And so Kurt Albert and his climbing friends set about ‘free climbing’ the routes in this area, without rests or aid. These routes pushed the climbers to their limits, and once they had successfully free climbed a route they would paint a red circle at the base of the route, to mark their accomplishment, and so the term ‘Redpoint’ arose.
Today, a ‘redpoint’ is a project that requires commitment and focus to successfully overcome. They’re challenging, rewarding and always worth it. A Redpoint epitomises rock climbing, mountaineering and adventure by truly connecting people with the great outdoors. They inspire people to spend time outdoors, meet with friends and fulfil their potential.
At Redpoint Adventures, we endeavour to give you the same experience. Whether you’re climbing for the first time, a seasoned mountaineer or looking for a bespoke adventure, we aim to give you an experience that is physically and mentally challenging, inspiring and ultimately fun for all involved. Our aim is to encourage people to enjoy and maximise their time outdoors by inspiring them in the same way that we were inspired by our own Redpoint Adventures.
